History
of Beading
Costume jewellery has been highly popular
for thousands of years; the ancient Egyptians
for example, particularly Cleopatra, are known
to have worn decorative beaded necklaces.
The appeal has since spread worldwide as far
as the Americas and the Far East. more |

Beadwork
as an Artform
Beads in many forms have been worn by
all classes as a decorative adornment for
as far back as history is recorded. For
the European and North American markets,
a wide variety of wonderful glass beads
for jewellery have been commercially manufactured
from the 16th century right through to the
present day. From the 1950's, artists from
the Gablonz area supplied the big designer
names such as Miriam Haskell and Christian
Dior with both raw materials and fully manufactured
pieces. Many of these were supplied ready
to have the designer's labels attached.
A
Typical Example
The image on the right is just one example
of my work. For some more detail see
the examples page
on this site. I produce many and various
finished pieces in a wide range of colours
and styles, most of which are mainly
produced from imported beads. However,
the raw materials tend to vary ever
so slightly, both in colour and light
transmission, so therefore each finished
article ends up as a very unique, stand
alone peice in it's own right. All of
my pices can be worn both for everyday
use, or to complement outfits for more
formal occasions. |

My Sources Of Materials
Many of my beads are imported in bulk from
as far and wide as India, the Czech Republic and
Venice. Each source of origin has a very different
approach to both manufacture and design, so
I can be assured that the content of every consignment
has very unique and special qualities.
By obtaining materials from such a wide diversity
of cultures, I can ensure that I have a totally
unique selection of raw materials to hand in order
to create very individual pieces.
Some
Website Toughts . . . .
I'm sure you find something of interest to
you on my site, and suggest that you come back
soon and often. I will be regularly posting examples
of my work, and as each piece is totally unique,
you may well decide to take the opportunity to
obtain a piece that is very individual.
I will guarantee to hold any piece that you see
on the site that has not already been sold,
and can make arrangements for immediate delivery
as soon as payment is received.
